the importunate ones

by bofa xesjum

we just started - i can’t handle this
don’t make me put this paper down
just for a thrill

every day i’ve got the blues
you said that before
but i loved the sound of the rain

you were always thrill crazy, doris that’s why i wanted you to stay away from millicent
go away, kid, you bother me

that was my grandpa’s solution to everything
i know i am repeating myself
but can’t you see i’m busy

no, how was i supposed to know?
you never gave me a chance
never gave me a chance to show what i could do

you should have spoken up
because every day i had the blues
i had dreams once

thrilling, indescribable dreams
such as no one ever had before
put that paper down and listen to me

i was always told to go away and stop bothering people
but i craved excitement
oh, forget you ever knew me!

but i loved the sound of the rain
it is so easy to forget
and that, really, is all there is to it

route 99 blues

by bofa xesjum

as a child i always hated the law of gravity
and had dreams of burrowing to the center off the earth
while dad read his newspaper

if i ever get the chance
and i am not too busy that day
i will tell jody to go away and stop bothering me

how was i supposed to know
they were caught making whoopee behind the bandstand
but they gave me my first big break

every day i’ve got the blues
and every day i look for a new thrill
they tell me i should know better

i had dreams once, big dreams
you would laugh if i told you
i know, i know, you’ve heard it all before

as a child i hated the chains of society
and being told i should keep busy
but i loved the sound of the rain

this world isn’t big enough for me
i heard that lonesome whistle blow
you haven’t heard it quite the same way

i was a strange child
as you know all too well
don’t make me point my steely gaze at you

forget you ever knew me
just a guy who went looking for thrills
but was never too busy to help a pal
